She believes creating a quality estate plan tailored to a client’s needs requires clients to feel comfortable with their attorney, so she takes time to build relationships and foster an environment where clients can confidently share complex family dynamics, concerns, values, and priorities.
As she puts it, if a client does not understand their estate plan, the problem lies with the attorney, not the client.
She makes sure the documents are well crafted and that clients fully understand their plan and how to implement it, so it functions as intended.
Nora frequently speaks on estate planning in the community and especially enjoys the educational part of those presentations.
She also recognizes that some members of the Alaskan community face increasing challenges, and she works to create a welcoming, safe space for everyone, including LGBTQ+ clients.
Background and Education
Nora was raised in Berkeley, California, where she developed her passion for helping others.
She received her B.A. in Environmental Science from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1986, and her J.D., with distinction and Order of the Coif, from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, in 1991.
Following graduation, she moved to Alaska for a prestigious federal clerkship with both the Honorable H. Russel Holland and the Honorable James M. Fitzgerald of the United States District Court for the District of Alaska.
After a brief five-year return to California, Nora and her husband made Alaska their permanent home, where they raised their three daughters, two dogs, and two cats.
