Practice Areas:
Focus: Estate Planning, Probate, and Guardianship/Conservatorship
Nora Barlow is a founding member of Barlow Anderson, LLC and brings over 30 years of legal experience. Her practice focuses on Estate Planning, Probate, and Guardianship/Conservatorship matters.
Based on her professional and personal experience, Nora understands the challenges families face throughout life’s transitions. Creating quality estate plans tailored to a client’s needs requires that clients feel comfortable with their attorney. Recognizing this, Nora takes time to build relationships, fostering an environment where clients confidently share complex family dynamics, concerns, values, and priorities. Estate planning doesn’t end with the final documents. Clients must understand their plan and how to implement it properly. Guided by the principle that “if a client doesn’t understand their Estate Plan, the problem lies with the attorney, not the client,” Nora ensures not only that estate planning documents are well-crafted, but that clients fully comprehend their plans and implementation steps, allowing the estate plan to function according to their goals. Nora also understands that certain members of the Alaskan community face increasing challenges. As such, she is committed to creating a welcoming, safe space for all.
Nora is a frequent speaker on estate planning in the community and especially enjoys the educational component of these presentations.
Nora was raised in Berkeley, California, where she developed her passion for helping others. She received her B.A. in Environmental Science from the University of California, Berkeley in 1986, and her J.D., with distinction and Order of the Coif, from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1991.
Following graduation, Nora moved to Alaska for a prestigious federal clerkship with both the Honorable H. Russel Holland, Judge and the Honorable James M. Fitzgerald, Senior Judge, United States District Court for the District of Alaska. After a brief five-year return to California, Nora and her husband made Alaska their permanent home, where they have raised their three daughters, two dogs, and two cats.
Nora is admitted to practice law in both Alaska and California.
